Joseph Nsubuga is certainly one of the very few lucky players at SC Villa. The gangly right-back despite the injury setbacks has been rewarded with a new two-year contract extension by the club.
Nsubuga who joined the record league champions in 2016 from Bright Stars has made more appearances in the treatment room than on the football pitch as he nursed a recurring achilles injury that ruled him out the entire 2019/2020 season.
“It’s been four years since I arrived at Villa park, time has soared so quickly. Am proud to sign a new contract and continue my career at this great club,” Nsubuga said in a statement released by the club.
“I can’t wait to get back into the game to hear our loyal fans supporting the team. I want to let everyone know that I will give everything back to repay the club and the fans who have stood by me in my trying times.”
Head coach Edward Kaziba was quick to mention that Nsubuga deserves the contract extension.
“Joseph (Nsubuga) is a great player and he deserves this contract. He has worked so hard to get out of that long injury layoff and you could see him fight every day.”
“We can’t wait to have him back to give us the depth we need in the team,” Kaziba stated.
SC Villa finished third last season and will be hoping to improve next season as they are expected to push for a record 17th league crown.
