Ismael Watenga and Chippa United on Wednesday picked up arguably their biggest win of the season.
They came to the Soccer City and picked up three important through Eva Nga Bienvenu who capitalized on Eric Mathoho’s poor defensive header back to goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune in the 85-minute.
Those three points took Chippa United’s season points’ tally to 21 points. They would be out of the red zone on the log but 14th placed Tshakhuma defeated Bloemfontein Celtic 1-0 to take their points tally to 22 points.
Chippa lie 15th on the log, methodically out of danger; “We are from being safe,” Watenga told Football256 before adding.
“We still need to pick more points, though this was an important win, a very big boost and we must build on it.”
After four appearances, it was Watenga’s second straight clean sheet, the other was the home barren draw with Golden Arrows.
“It is good for me, my match fitness is getting better each passing day, and my confidence is also coming back.”
“I am not yet at my best, but I will keep on working, and I will get there with time, I just need to keep working,” Watenga added.
Chippa play Stellenbosch at home on May 1st before their Nedbank Cup final against Tshakhuma on May 8th.
