New Wakiso Giants FC head coach John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda made his first signing when he landed goalkeeper Bashir Ssekagya.
On Wednesday, Ssekagya signed a two-year contract with the Purple Sharks with an option for a further year. According to Luyinda, his experience will benefit the club.
“He comes with a bit more experience and we believe he will be of value to the squad,” Luyinda told the club media before adding.
“His talent and potential are undoubted and we are glad he has chosen us.”
The 24-year-old is not new to Ugandan football given that he has spent the largest part of his career with Uganda Premier League clubs.
His breakthrough was in the 2017/18 season at UPDF FC before he joined Vipers SC in the 2018/19 campaign.
Sekagya was later loaned out to Proline FC and by the time joined Wakiso, he was a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Kenyan side Wazito.
“It is an exciting opportunity for me to continue my growth as a goalkeeper with such an ambitious club and will do all in my ability to help achieve their ambitions,” Ssekagya was quoted by the club website.
Ssekagya comes in as a replacement for Derrick Emukule who left the club following the expiry of his contract
