Soltilo Bright Stars FC forward Nelson Senkatuka described his side’s recent form as a turnaround in fortunes, after he was crowned the Uganda Premier League player of the month for November.
Bright Stars have won all their previous four league games against Onduparaka 2-1, Busoga 1-0, and 2-0 apiece over BUL and Express.
Before that, they had won none from their opening seven league games losing twice to Villa 1-0 and Gaddafi Modern 3-0 while they drew 0-0 against Vipers and Maroons, 1-1 with Blacks Power and UPDF, and 2-2 against URA.
“There has been a lot of hard work amongst the team recently to turn results around,” Senkatuka told www.football256.com after he was crowned winner of the November Player of the Month at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo on Monday.
“And I think in the last four games we put up strong performances and this has helped me as a player to win this award.”
“I would like to dedicate it to all my teammates, coaches, and everyone else associated with the club because they have been supportive of me, this was a collective effort.”
Senkatuka scored five goals and managed one assist while he was the man of the match thrice.
He scored once and made an assist in a 2-1 win against Onduparaka and bagged a brace apiece in the 2-0 victories against Express and BUL, a performance that earned him 57% of the online votes from fans.
Senkatuka is the joint leading scorer in the league so far with six goals level with Vipers, Maroons, and Modern Gaddafi forwards Yunus Sentamu, Fred Amaku, and Alex Kitata respectively.
“As a striker, I always try to score in every game and I know the competition of the golden boot race is going to be tough and tight but my ultimate target is to win it,” Senkatuka notes.
Senkatuka shrugged off competition from Wakiso’s Ibrahim Kasule and Gaddafi Modern’s Alex Kitata to win the award.
