Maritzburg United and Allan Kateregga’s dream of playing in next season’s ABSA Premiership is still alive following a second successive win in the relegation play offs.
Maritzburg registered a 2-0 against Tshakhuma at Thohoyandou stadium on Wednesday evening in a game Kateregga was an unused substitute.
South African duo of Judas Moseamedi and Bongokuhle Hlongwane netted the all-important goals that mattered for Maritzburg.
Maritzburg completed the regular PSL season on 27 points on the 16 point log, but survived the drop on goal difference as Free State got related.
The Eric Tinkler coached side went into the playoffs in which they have now registered a narrow 1-0 victory against Royal Eagles at home before their win against
Tshakhuma at Thohoyandou away from home.
They will return to action on May 29th away to Royal Eagles before playing Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila F.C at home on June 1st.
Kateregga has been a big pillar in Maritzburg’s relegation survival campaign featuring commanding 461 minutes in eight games with two goals that came in the 2-1 win against Bloemfontein Celtic.
After the relegation play offs, Kateregga will immediately fly out to UAE to team up with the Uganda Cranes for a training camp ahead of the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt next month.
