After two games with his South African club Chippa United, Ugandan goalkeeper Ismail Watenga is into his first final at the club.
Watenga played 90 minutes as Chippa United defeated Pretoria Callies 1-0 to qualify for the finals of the Nedbank Cup on Saturday.
Sandile Mthethwa scored the all important goal in the 62nd minute in a game Watenga put up a man-of-the-match performance on the other side of the pitch.
“Hard to take in but yes, we are in the finals,” Watenga told Football256 from South Africa.
“Today I had a better game than my debut, I have not played football in three years so I am also working on getting my match fitness back,” Watenga added.
Watenga and Chippa could face holders Mamelodi Sundowns, who play Tshakhuma (TTM) in the other semi-final on Sunday.
“We are ready for anyone, but for now, we need to focus on also getting some points in the league, because our position in the league is also not good,” Watenga noted.
They lie 15th on a 16-team log, on 16 points, two points away from safety with eight games to go.
