Frank Ssebuufu wants a long stay and has the hunger to produce a reel of highlights for the time he is going to spend at his new club Wakiso Giants.

Ssebuufu had an incredible StarTimes Uganda Premier League debut for the Purple Sharks during their 2-0 victory over Onduparaka FC at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Saturday.

Ivan Bogere and Pius Kaggwa scored for the hosts as they picked up their first home victory of the season as Ssebuufu’s performance earned him the Man of the Match accolade.

“I am here to add something crucial to see that my club reaches greater heights,” Ssebuufu told Football256 in an interview.

“I am happy that the players, coach and the board have welcomed me well and I already feel at home. I know I joined midway the season but I will still push for my arrival to be felt,” he added.

Ssebuufu was heavily involved in both goals, laying the ball for Bogere to open the scoring in the 23rd minute before combining with Bogere to set up Kaggwa’s goal.

“I am happy to have had such a debut because I feel I played better than I expected. I must confess I was unlucky to miss being on the scoresheet but at least I managed to grab an assist,” Ssebuufu noted.

“I know Wakiso Giants is a big club with great players, great management and good branding. So, I expect competition and I will have to fight and utilise all the opportunities I get on the team.”

“I am learning new things from my teammates and the coach who is a true teacher. I know soon I will be at the peak because I always yearn to improve and get better,” he continued.

The Purple Sharks continue to endure a rather disappointing season under Douglas Bamweyana with the club languishing six points above the relegation zone.

Ssebuufu started his football career at 16-years with Kiboga Young FC in 2018 and later moved to Masaka City FC where he played for a single year.

In 2020 he joined Lungujja Galaxy but did not play a single game due to the COVID-19 pandemic induced lockdown on football.

He would later earn a move to Wakiso Giants after a splendid show at the just concluded Airtel Masaza Cup where he reached the final with Buddu which they lost 3-1 to Gomba.

The Purple Sharks will travel to Vipers SC at the magnificent St. Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.
