Maroons FC interim head coach Robert Ssekweyama is buoyant that his side will do whatever it takes to survive the relegation monster at the end of the season.

Much as they are out of the red zone, the Luzira based club is not safe at all and their survival chances were paralyzed by the 2-0 loss against Vipers at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Wednesday.

Tom Masiko and Brian Nkuubi scored for Vipers in each half before Maroons Pius Obuya failed to give his side a lifeline when failed to convert a penalty with two minutes to full time.

“Our chances of survival are affected by today’s loss, but we are going to win more games in order to survive relegation,” Ssekweyama said in the post-match press conference.

“We are really badly off on the league table but we are going to make sure that we survive,” he added.

Ssekweyama recognized the performance that Vipers exhibited during their encounter.
“We lost the game in the first 15 minutes of the first half, we were tormented by the opponents. Vipers utilized their chances well that’s why they came out as victors on the day.”

“The boys lost morale in the first 20 minutes but improved in the second half though we were not to find the back of the net,” he added.

The result left Maroons lingering in 12th position on 25 points, five points away from the relegation scare with six games to go.
