Express Football Club forward George Ssenkaaba is thrilled by his first goal for the club as it turned out to be the winner in their StarTimes Uganda Premier tie with SC Villa on Satuday.

Ssenkaaba scored with a cool finish in the 47th minute as the Red Eagles edged arch-rivals SC Villa 1-0 at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku and disclosed that the goal helped his ‘confidence grow’.

“Like any forward, my confidence has grown,” Ssenkaaba opened up to the Express FC website.

“When you score, your confidence grows and to score in a derby it’s beyond delightful because it is special.”

“I must say it was due to teamwork for me to earn the goal but, my target is to hit double figures. We go back to re-strategize for the remaining games,” the forward added.

Ssenkaaba has thrived on the left wing using his pace, power and trickery to beat defenders and is slowly earning his place in coach Wasswa Bbosa’s team.

The pacey forward joined Express from newly promoted StarTimes Uganda Premier League side, Kitara FC and it took him four games to earn a starting berth.

Express sits sixth on the 16-team log with eight points and remain unbeaten, winning two and drawing two of their four games played so far.

The 1-0 victory over the Jogoo was also the first time Express beat their rivals in the league in 13 meetings since April 2017.

The Red Eagles will travel to the Arena of Visions, Ndejje to face URA in February when the league resumes after a break due to the CHAN tournament which is set to take place in between January and February.
