FUFA Big League side Arua Hill SC pick up a vital first-leg advantage after holding on to defeat UPDF FC 3-2 at the Barifa PlayGround in Arua.
Arua Hill had a strong start to the game, dominating possession and they found the opener after 18 minutes as Rashid Kawawa turned in Gadaffi Gadinho’s pass.
The hosts doubled their lead in the 35th minute through defender Mike Kawooya’s header from Emmanuel Muteni’s corner, but Alex Kitata’s goal would cut their deficit as the first half drew to a close.
Kefa Kisala’s charges would restore parity in the 58th minute, Mark Vuni turning in Hassan Zinde’s corner kick, moments after Alfred Leku had wasted an opportunity to put his side 3-2 up.
But Leku would save his blushes as he restored his side’s lead three minutes later before he was withdrawn moments later.
UPDF will look to overturn the result when they host Arua Hill at the Bombo Barracks Ground on Sunday.
Elsewhere, KCCA were 4-2 winners over Nyamityobora FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
Bright Anukani, Julius Poloto, Sadat Anaku and Sam Ssenyonjo were all on target for the Byekwaso’s side while Clinton Kamugisha netted a brace for the visitors.
Anukani and Poloto both capitalised on individual mistakes to put Morley Byekwaso’s side in the driving seat early on.
But Kamugisha’s strike cut into their lead before Anaku restored their two goal advantage eight minutes before the end of the first half.
Kamugisha would strike again halfway through the second half to give Nyamityobora hope of causing an upset but second half substitute Sam Ssenyonjo put the game to bed in the 83rd minute.
