Vipers SC head coach Roberto Oliveira ‘Robertinho’ has asserted that his team will continue to flourish despite losing Uganda Premier League top-scorer Cesar Manzoki to injury.
The star marksman suffered what appeared to be a concussion in their Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-final 4-0 win against Mbarara City FC on Tuesday at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The Congolese-born currently leads the league’s top-scorers chart with 18 goals, three ahead of the nearest chaser, Muhammad Shaban with only a game to the end of the campaign.
A few hours after the game though, through their social media platforms, the Venoms confirmed that the striker was out of the worrying state.
“The Emperor is out of danger and will spend the night in hospital, but, it’s a precautionary measure. He will be fine,” read the communication.
Much as it looks a certainty he will not feature in the final league match against Police FC on Saturday, it remains to be seen if he will play the Cup final slated for June 18th.
Nevertheless, Robertinho insists the side will thrive regardless of his availability.
“It’s really sad that our top-scorer has suffered such a bad injury. I can only pray he gets better soon,” he said to the press.
“But, I have built a strong family here and we trust each other. If we fail to have Cesar back for the next game(s), we shall use another approach and we shall succeed.”
Vipers are not short of options offensively should the forward fail to recover in time for the remaining matches.
Yunus Sentamu, who is their top scorer across all competitions with 19 goals, has been reliable and will most definitely lead the line.
The other options lie in Milton Karisa who has hit double figures for both assists and goals in all competitions.
Paul Mucureezi is also well known for his attacking qualities and goal scoring attributes, Bright Anukani, Denis Mwemezi, and Dan Serunkuuma are the other able options.
