KCCA FC head coach Morley Byekwaso admits that his side was unconvincing in their Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32 victory over Nyamityobora at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday.
Sam Ssenyonjo scored his first goal since December to add to Bright Anukani, Julius Poloto and Sadat Anaku’s earlier strikes as Morley Byekwaso’s side ran out 4-2 victors.
Clinton Kamugisha’s well taken doubled in both halves provided the visitors with a shimmer of hope in a game Byekwaso feels his side should have managed better.
“We conceded very lousy goals because of the unseriousness our defenders showed but we hope to rectify the issue ahead of the return leg,” Byekwaso said during his post match press conference.
“Nyamityobora is a very physical side and they also have a good coach in Richard Makumbi and therefore I knew the game would be hard.”
“But all in all, we are glad we were effective at the other end and scored the goals that won us the game despite having an unconvincing afternoon on the day,” he added.
The Kasasiro Boys should have scored more on the day but there was a bit of selfishness amongst the forwards especially in the first half with most of them going for self glory, squandering a lot of chances.
“I think they thought the team was a weak one but it later turned out to be strong, that is why you saw everyone wanting to score thus us missing all those good chances, had we scored enough earlier on, we would not have struggled at a later stage in the game,” he continued.
“The second leg is going to judge who will go through, we shall as well try to stage a physical team and I think we are going to battle it out, it will not be an easy game but I think we shall advance,” Byekwaso noted.
Byekwaso and his charges still have to complete the job and advance to the round of 16 when the two sides meet again in Mbarara on Saturday.
He was taking charging of his second game as the club’s interim manager. First was a 3-0 win over BUL FC in the league last week.
