The ongoing administrative changes at record league champions SC Villa didn’t spare club legend Phillip Ssozi.
The former winger who was the club’s development coach and also doubled as the fitness coach was shown the exit and Football256 reliably understands that the decision was based on Ssozi’s behavior at the club.
“For Ssozi’s case, it’s been several issues that have been raised over time by the club administration,” a source that preferred anonymity told this website.
“First he had a straining working relationship with most of the first team players, to him, no player at the club could attain what he achieved.”
“Which was ok but he always mocked them (players) about it and they didn’t like it.”
“The club also thinks that Ssozi had handled the development side for a while now but not many youngsters have been promoted to the first team.”
“Yes, we credit him for the players he developed but alot more was expected,” the source added.
Phillip Ssozi was part of SC Villa’s technical bench for most of his time at the club and was credited for overseeing the development of players like Abdallah Salim (now at URA FC), Gavin Kizito (currently in Egypt at Al Ittihad Alexandria).
There is also Charles Lwanga (now at KCCA FC) who later played for the record league champions before they joined other clubs.
This reporter made several attempts to reach out to Ssozi on his known mobile number but it was unavailable by press time.
