Blacks Power FC registered their first StarTimes Uganda Premier League win after thumping Maroons FC in a 3-1 victory at Prisons Grounds, Luzira on Tuesday.

Simon Peter Otto, Siwu Mike and Dicken Okwir scored for the visitors while Solomon Walusimbi found Maroons’ only goal in the game.

After a sluggish start, the guests were threatened in the seventh minute, and forward Okwir tapped home Francis Onekalit’s delivery hence giving Blacks Power an early lead.

Seven minutes later, the hosts found the equaliser through Solomon Walusimbi, thanks to the high pressing from the home side.

Two minutes past half an hour mark, Blacks Power were awarded a penalty and Mike Siwu emphatically converted, to regain the lead.

In the 37th minute, Otto silenced the home fans at Luzira after finding the third for the Lira-based side off Onekalit’s assist.

In the second half, Maroons returned a changed side and would have instantly reduced the deficit, but Samson Kigozi’s flying shot was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Emmanuel Odongo.

The victory leaves Blacks Power in 14th position with five points while Maroons are 10th with eight, after suffering their first loss at home.

Maroons will travel to Bombo to take on UPDF on Tuesday November 22 in their next fixture, while Blacks Power will host UPDF FC on Monday November 28.
