Express FC lost their first game of the 2022/23 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season 2-0 to Soltilo Bright Stars FC.
Bright Stars forward Nelson Ssenkatuka bagged a brace at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Tuesday.
Ssenkatuka’s goals came in the first half when he scored in the 10th and 32nd minute respectively.
The hosts played the largest part of the game with a numerical disadvantage after Daniel Shabene was sent off for a dangerous foul on Phiat Cleophas.
Despite being a man down, the Red Eagles were the best side in the second half and should have levelled matters at the restart but Allan Kayiwa missed a penalty in the 46th minute.
The victory ensured that the Stars won their second game of the season having defeated Onduparaka 2-1 in their previous game.
On the other hand, the seven-time champions were losing their second game of the season given that they were defeated 2-0 by SC Villa away from him earlier in the campaign.
James Odoch’s charges stayed fifth on the 15-team SUPL log with 14 points after eight games while Asaph Mwebaze’s coached side moved to the seventh position with 11 points.
Express will visit table leaders Wakiso Giants FC in the next game on Monday, November 28th whereas Bright Stars’ next game is at home against BUL FC the next day.
