Express FC attacking midfielder Allan Kayiwa has urged everyone at the club to remain calm although they have had a brilliant start to the 2022/23 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

After seven games, the Red Eagles are fifth on the 15 team SUPL log with 14 points level with BUL FC and Vipers SC.

Express are only three and two points adrift of top-of-the-table side Wakiso Giants FC and second-placed SC Villa respectively but have played a game more.

“It is just the beginning of the season and we should not be carried away or feel in any way excited about our performance so far,” Kayiwa was quoted saying on the club website.

“Let’s just stay focused and improve in each game that comes around. I want to keep scoring goals and who knows, this could help the team win trophies and maybe a golden boot for myself.”

Kayiwa only joined Express at the start of the ongoing season but he has had an immediate impact singlehandedly winning 11 points out of the 14 the club has after seven games.

“First things first, my coaches and teammates believe in me so that connection between us has been important to me as an individual and the teams on a larger note.”

“I came in an environment where I know a lot of people ranging from the CEO (Isaac Mwesigwa), the coaches, and the players therefore adaptation was never going to be a challenge to me,” he noted.

After seven games, the Red Eagles have scored seven goals and five of them have been netted by the former Vipers SC player.

“I have just found myself at the end of everything so far but credit goes to the entire team for working tirelessly hard to ensure that we earn points.”

“It is that momentum, fighting spirit, working hard, and togetherness that is unique about us, and it is going to keep us moving as we aim for the best,” Kayiwa stated.

On five goals, he is the joint leading goal scorer so far with Vipers’ Yunus Sentamu and he is more focused on helping the team to achieve big than the individual accolades.
