SUPL: Gaddafi’s Kitata shuts down Bright Stars

Alex Kitata scored a hattrick as Gaddafi FC shut down Soltilo Bright Stars in a 3-0 Startimes Uganda Premier League victory at Kakindu Stadium, Jinja on Tuesday.

It was Gaddafi’s second consecutive victory in the league though the first at home. While on the other hand, Asaph Mwebaze’s side suffered a second loss in a row, the first coming against SC Villa.

The hosts took an early lead through Kitata after his strike found the back of the net six minutes into the game.

Four minutes later, debutant Godfrey Lwesibawa delivered a well-weighed cross into the area but Kitata wasted the chance from close range.

In the 24th minute, Emmanuel Loki had a chance to draw matters but his snapshot was well collected by goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa.

Bright Stars were the hungrier side at the start of the second half searching for an equaliser but Sam Senyonjo’s header off Denis Omony’s cross was above the frame.

In the 78th minute, Kitata completed a brace after his powerful header beat Hassan Matovu, sending Gaddafi’s fans on their feet.

Five minutes later, Kitata was back to complete the assignment on the evening with a hattrick.

The victory takes the Soldier Boys to seventh on the log with nine points while Bright Stars are 11th on five points.

In the next game, Gaddafi will visit Wakiso Giants on Friday, November 18 while Bright Stars host Onduparaka on Tuesday, November 15.
