SUPL: Kayiwa’s lone strike ends BUL’s unbeaten run

Allan Kayiwa scored the only goal of the game as Express FC edged BUL FC 1-0 in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wakulukuku on Tuesday.

Victory for the hosts ensured that the visitors’ unbeaten run in six games came to an end in their seventh outing.

Kayiwa’s goal came in the 11th minute when his low drive from distance beat BUL’s goalkeeper Emmanuel Kalyowa.

The oil manufacturers should have levelled matters at the half-hour mark but Karim Ndugwa was denied by Denis Otim with a superb save.

The Red Eagles’ second-best chance of the game fell to Daniel Shabene who was denied by the upright in the 58th minute.

Soon after, Otim was once again called into action to deny Frank Kalanda from scoring against his former club.

Kayiwa’s fourth goal in six games took Express FC up to the fourth position on the 15-team log with 11 points, three adrift of leaders BUL who are on 14 points but have played a game more.

Express FC will return to action on November 16th away to Busoga United FC whereas BUL will host the same opponent on November 25th.

In the other games played on the day, defending champions Vipers SC were held to a one-all draw by Wakiso Giants FC at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium. Gaddafi Modern FC defeated Soltilo Bright Stars FC 3-0 at Kakindu Stadium.
