Soltilo Bright Stars played an excellent second half, fighting from two goals down to draw against URA FC in a four goal thriller Startimes Uganda Premier League game played at Nakisunga Grounds, on Wednesday.
URA gave away a two goal lead to register the third stalemate of the campaign, while Bright Stars have five draws in as many games.
On another day, Bright Stars would have taken maximum points from the game but the woodwork denied them thrice in the epic encounter.
Ten minutes into the game, Paul Patrick Mbowa’s belter kissed the crossbar and URA FC missed to take an early lead.
Moments later, Ibrahim Dada beat his marker Warren Buule for pace before he dashed the ball into the area.
But George Senkaaba’s resultant effort was palmed away by Bright Stars goalkeeper Hassan Matovu after a reflex save.
With just a minute left to play for in the first half, James Begisa nodded home from close range to give the hosts the lead.
Matovu again got his palms onto Saidi Kyeyune’s powerful freekick but the ball did not go far before Begisa tapped home on a rebound.
After recess, Bright Stars made three changes bringing on Jonathan Odongo, Denis Kaka Omwony and Emmanuel Loki for Sharif Nsereko, Bob Olwoch and Muhammad Kyeyune respectively.
Four minutes into the second stanza, Dada’s powerful low effort was punched into play and Senkaaba latched onto a rebound and smashed home to extend URA’s lead.
In the 66th minute, Bright Stars pulled one back through skipper Nelson Senkatuka. The forward met a loose ball in the area off Nafian Alionzi’s save and calmly slotted it in the back of the net.
Senkatuka nearly quickly levelled matters but his volley bounced off the right goal post.
With two minutes left on the clock, Loki jumped highest and nodded Odongo’s delivery at the far post leaving Alionzi with no chance.
The point takes URA to fifth with six points while Bright Stars are eighth with five points from five games played.
In the next fixture, URA will visit Wakiso Giants on Tuesday November 1 while Bright Stars will host SC Villa four days later.
