Steven Munguchi’s solo effort was enough to give Gaddafi FC a 1-0 victory against Busoga United in the 2022/2023 Star Times Uganda Premier League game at Kakindu Stadium on Tuesday.
This was Wasswa Bbosa’s first league victory after managing draws against Onduparaka (0-0), Express (1-1) and BUL (1-1) and a 2-0 loss against SC Villa.
The visitors did not create a whole lot in the game, but the derby victory will boast their morale going forward after an ugly start to the campaign.
Busoga’s first chance to go infront landed on Derrick Basoga, his powerful shot stung Gaddafi’s goalkeeper Chrispas Kusiima before it sailed out.
Substitute Mugunchi broke the deadlock with a low deflected effort in the 68th minute of the game.
The midfielder took matters in his own hands as he went through a forest of bodies in the middle park before finding the back of the net.
Dickson Niwamanya had a chance to level matters instantly but his header off Peter Onzima’s delivery was poorly directed. At full time, Busoga had registered their fifth defeat in six games played.
The victory takes Gaddafi in the ninth position with six points while Busoga United are 12th with three points.
Gaddafi will return to action hosting Bright Stars on Tuesday November 8 while Busoga will visit Onduparaka on Saturday November 12.
