SC Villa’s right-back cum-midfielder, Fred Agandu has called upon the Jogoo to keep unified in the current hard times.
The Uganda Premier League record champions started the ongoing campaign on the right note, gathering four wins, a draw and just a loss in the first six games.
However, things have turned around after the loss against Wakiso Giants, and, due to alleged hooliganism, two points and two goals were subtracted.
As if that was not enough, they were sent away from their home ground and now have to play at Akii Bua Stadium in Lira.
“Yes, I must admit as a team we are going through a very hard time but we can only overcome it if we keep united,” Agandu told Football256 shortly after the 2-0 loss against Vipers SC.
“At times, I ask myself as players, do we deserve this wrath after the hard work we put in as the league kicked off,” he continued.
Since the whip from the FUFA disciplinary committee, Villa has managed only one win and lost twice in three games.
“You must know it’s very tough and hard to take in. I cannot believe that two points and two goals were taken away. Do you know how it is hard to get a point in such a competitive season?” a bitter Agandu asked.
“You can clearly see that the mood is down and players are taking long to outgrow the pain. However, as a team, we have not given up yet. We are a team with clear goals and we shall keep fighting.”
“I pray to God that he guides us going forward and grants us the much-needed unity. We need to get the grieving aside and fight for what belongs to us,” he concluded.
Villa is seventh with 14 points in 10 games. They return to action on Sunday December 4 as they take on Maroons FC.
