Vipers SC could spice up their title-winning StarTimes Uganda Premier League season with a new record for most points collected in a single campaign in 13 years.

With three games to remainder of the season, the already confirmed champions can tally up 76 points, as they currently have 67.

This absolutely astonishing feat would be better than what they themselves (as Bunamwaya), managed in 2009/10 when they amassed 74 points, albeit, in 34 games.

However, the league had 18 teams on that occasion as compared to 16 currently.

The 76 points accumulated would however be two short of what URA FC collected in the 2008/09 campaign, where they won the title with 78 in 34 matches.

If the Venoms go ahead and emerge victorious in all of the remaining hattrick of games, they will set a new record of the most points collected by any side in a 16 team campaign.

The tally would be 18 points more than what Express FC (58) managed when they won last season’s (2020/21) title, despite having had to play four games less, due to Covid-19 restrictions.

It would also mean a whopping 22 points more than what they (Vipers) accumulated in the 2019/20 season when they were crowned champions.

The Venoms would also have beaten their 2014/15 season when they garnered 69. The latter tally is currently the most by any side in a 16 team season.

Vipers will be guests to record holders SC Villa on Saturday at the FUFA Techincal Center Njeru, as the latter continue to fight for survival.
