Reigning champions of the Star Times Uganda Premier League Vipers SC ascended to the summit of the 15-team log following a 4-0 thrashing of Onduparaka FC at Kitende on Wednesday.
It was also a tough welcome for Steven Bogere who was taking charge of Onduparaka for the first time after being appointed as head coach on Tuesday.
Bright Anukani, Abdul Karim Watambala, Ibrahim Orit, and Milton Karisa scored for the Venoms in a four-star show.
Anukani netted a penalty in the 23rd minute, and a minute later, Watambala added a second for the hosts to lead 2-0 at the interval.
Orit was on target in the 75th minute before Karisa sealed it in the 90th minute taking the Kitende-based outfit on 23 points after 11 games.
They are level on points with BUL FC but occupy the top spot with a better goal difference.
They will stay in the first position at least for 24 hours given that KCCA FC who are third with 22 points have a chance to leapfrog them when they host Express FC on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Caterpillars continue to be the only team yet to register a win this season after 11 games and they are placed bottom of the standings with two points.
Vipers will visit Express on Tuesday, December 13th while Onduparaka will host Maroons FC on Sunday, December 11th.
