Vipers SC had to come from behind to draw one-all with Wakiso Giants FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Tuesday.

Hillary Mukundane’s goal cancelled out Ibrahim Kasule’s first-half header as the two sides settled for a point on a rainy evening.

The guests had the chance to take an early lead in the ninth minute, but Cromwel Rwothomio’s half-volley missed the target by a few inches.

Two minutes later, the Purple Sharks capitalized on Alfred Mudekereza’s mix-up with the defenders, to allow Kasule to score through a looping header in an empty net.

Yunus Sentamu was on the wrong side of luck when his 15th-minute goal-bound header crashed against the woodwork.

Watambala nearly levelled matters in the 21st minute but his low drive from distance was brilliantly saved by custodian Samson Kirya.

A minute later, Rwothomio thought he had scored the equalizer but his close-range shot was expertly thwarted by Kirya.

Vipers kickstarted the second half in full attack and netted in the 59th minute, Mukundane taking full advantage of scrappiness in the box to fire home a loose ball.

The visitors nearly added a second in quick succession, but substitute Darcy Kipoyi’s powerful shot was dealt with by Kirya.

The Venoms, who occupy tenth with five points, will return to action on Friday with a long visit to Lira against Blacks Power FC at the Aki Bua Stadium.

Meanwhile, third-placed Wakiso will also visit SC Villa on Friday in their next match at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
