Vipers SC midfielders Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye and Abdukarim Watambala are steadily winning head coach Roberto Oliveira Robertinho’s heart.
The pair has played and impressed every time they’ve stepped on the pitch, most notably in the last two games against Maroons FC and Wakiso Giants FC.
With several players out in Paul Mucureezi, Olivier Osomba, and Bright Anukani, and with new signing Garcia Mpongo Mbombo yet to impress, the duo will have more shots at impressing.
“The unavailable players are all key, but we trust the available players too,” said Robertinho to Vipers media.
“I trust Karim (Watambala), and Zaga (Frank Tumwesigye) and they have played well in the last games when they start or come on,” he added.
“They have been with me for one year and a half and their talents will help to improve my team,” the tactician noted.
Zaga and Watambala are both expected to play a starring role as the Venoms take on Blacks Power FC on Friday at the Aki Bua Stadium.
Following the team’s one-all stalemate with Wakiso Giants on Tuesday, Robertinho has set his sights fully on picking maximum points.
“It is an important game tomorrow away from home and we have laid our strategy for it well,” Robertinho noted.
“Our objective is to win the match because as a big team, Vipers have to win every game. We have proved in the past that we can win these difficult games away and we have to do the same,” he added.
The two sides have not met previously in a competitive match, and the match will provide the perfect platform to write history.
The club has confirmed that Bright Anukani is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a groin injury in their game against Maroons FC, requiring further assessments.
It has also been made public knowledge that center-back Livingstone Mulondo is still out after suffering a foot injury in a training session last week.
Meanwhile, lightning-quick winger Abdu Lumala was given a month’s rest to fully recover from a disturbing hamstring injury, as he goes through rehabilitation.
Versatile star Paul Mucureezi is also out after injuring his foot and his expected return date remains unclear, according to the club website.
New midfield signing, Olivier Osomba is out of tomorrow’s game after contracting malaria, after the game against Wakiso Giants. In that match, he was withdrawn midway through the first half.
