Busiro Ssaza Team has named its final 16 players who will head out to the FUFA Technical Center to battle for this year’s Masaza Cup tournament scheduled to get underway on December 12.

Coach Raymond Rukungu who took over from Deo Sserwadda has retained 10 players from the squad that went all the way to the finals where they narrowly lost to Bulemeezi 1-0 at the Mandela National Stadium.

Hadadi Mutumba who started in goal in the final has been retained, but will battle with Juma Kirabira who joined the side from Gomba Ssaza team.

Six players from the dependable backline that conceded just three goals in the knockout matches have also stayed on for another season.

Brian Kasule who captained the side to the 2019 final and central defence partner Paul Wasswa together with Mumbere Razak, Rubankene Samuel Tutu, Mubiru ‘Desty’ Edward and versatile Robert Ssentongo who can play at both right and left-back have all been included on the team.

Rogers Adriko and Kabanda Badru will be the pivots in the middle of the back in the absence of Mikidadi Ssenyonga, Ivan Sserubiri and Ivan Mayanja who have all earned moves to the Uganda Premier League.

While Ssenyonga and Sserubiri’s moves to URA FC were confirmed by the time the finals were played, Mayanja’s move to Express was an unwelcome disruption as it came deep into the team’s preparations for this year’s tournament.

Upfront, only Andrew Kigozi who joined Police FC before moving to KCCA FC for this season will be the only significant miss. Impressively, Gerrard Ogwetti stays on for another year despite huge interest from Buddu Ssaza.

Busiro also captured Ibrahim Kasenge who comes off the back of an incredible season having scored 17 goals in 15 league games for Lukaya TC in the Buganda Regional League last season.

The other new recruits who have joined the team include; Ssemwanga Ivan, Kirumira Tigan, Nyanzi Marvin and Usama Arafat.

Busiro who are still in the hunt for their maiden Masaza Cup trophy has been drawn in the Bulange Group alongside Kyaggwe, Busujju, Buvuma and Buwekula.
