The second-round draft fixtures of the 2019/2020 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season were finally released on Monday evening ahead of the resumption of the league which is scheduled for Tuesday, January 7th 2020.

The chase for the 2020 title is turning out to be quite the most interesting in years. Vipers are leading the chase with 36 points from 15 games.

Defending champions KCCA FC are hot on their heels two points off their tally. BUL and SC Villa follow with 29 and 27 points respectively.

The opening matchday will see URA FC and SC Villa faceoff at URA’s new home ground the Arena of Vision in Ndejje. Onduparaka will travel to face Tooro United while Express will travel to Jinja to Busoga United at the Mighty Arena.

Table leaders Vipers SC host Kyetume FC at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, KCCA are at home against bogey side Mbarara City at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

Relegation strugglers Proline visit Maroons in Luzira, Bright Stars host BUL FC with Police FC facing Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu.

The first derby of the second round comes on January 17th, when Vipers SC host Villa at Kitende. Villa ended Vipers’ yearlong unbeaten run at home when the two sides last met at the venue last season.

Villa will then host Express FC two weeks later on January 29th, in the Kampala derby, the latter will be looking at making amends for their first-round loss to Villa by inflicting defeat to them at their home ground.

The league will then take its first break, to accommodate the Uganda Cup round of 64 games, the stage at which all top division clubs join the cup tournament scheduled for 21st to 25th January.

On 31st January, URA FC will host KCCA in Ndejje, a day before their title rivals Vipers host Onduparaka on February 1st.

The second break for the Uganda Cup round of 32 comes between 11th and 15th February, three days before what may be the title showdown, when KCCA make the trip to Kitende to face Vipers on 18th February.

February 21st presents another tough one for Vipers when the visit URA. But expect it to be tougher for KCCA who host Express in the Kampala derby on February 22nd. The Red Eagles and URA then meet on February 25th.

March opens with a tough one when Wakiso Giants play host to Vipers SC on March 6th. Before the league takes another break for the Uganda Cup Round of 16 scheduled for 10th – 14th March.

Another Kampala derby will play out on March 17th, when record winners SC Villa host 13-time Champions KCCA.

That will be the last bit of action before a month and a half break from league action for the 2020 African Nations Championships (CHAN), due 4th –25th April, in Cameroon.

League action resumes on May 5th, as Express host Vipers, while KCCA will make the long trip to Arua where they will play Onduparaka at the Green Light Stadium.

The 2019/2020 UPL season will climax on Saturday 16th May 2020. The final fixtures see Busoga United hosting Proline, Express against Kyetume, Tooro United hosting Proline, Maroons host Mbarara, Wakiso and URA will host Onduparaka and Villa respectively.

KCCA hosting BUL Bidco FC and Vipers hosting Police will be the outstanding fixtures of the final matchday.
