Before January 20th, 2019, Uganda had an opportunity of having two teams in the group stages of the 2018/2019 Total CAF Confederation Cup group stages.
Twenty four hours later, both Vipers and KCCA FC had turned focus on domestic competitions after their 3-0 and 3-2 loss on aggregate to SC Sfaxien and AS Otoho respectively.
Four time winners of this competition, Sfaxien and debutants Otoho were on Monday morning pulled on group B and A respectively.
Otoho have been pooled alongside three Moroccan teams in Hassania US Agadir, RS Berkane and Raja Casablanca.
Sfaxien are pooled alongside Étoile du Sahel, also from Tunisia, Ranger International FC of Nigeria and Salitas Fc from Burkina Faso.
2016 semi-finalists Zesco United eliminated Godfrey Walusimbi’s Kaiser Chiefs and are pooled in Group C alongside fellow countrymen Nkana FC, alongside jamal Salim’s Sudanese outfit Al Hilal and Asante Kotoko from Ghana.
Ugandan internationals Erisa Ssekisambu and Shafik Batambuze will feature in the group stages with Kenyan champions Gor Mahia who are in Group D with Na Hussein Dey (Algeria), Atletico Petroleos (Angola) and Zamalek (Egypt).
Match day one of the group stages will start on February 3rd and end on March 17th. The draws for the quarterfinals and semi-finals are slated for March 20th with the quarterfinals commencing on April 7th.
The first leg semi-finals are slated for April 28th with the return leg set for May 5th, the two legged final will be played on May 19th and May 26th.
