Newly promoted Uganda Premier League side Kitara FC are in the hunt for head coach Mark Twinamatsiko’s successor.
This comes barely days after he guided the club to promotion to the Uganda Premier League.
Twinamatsiko who signed a one-year contract with the Hoima based side in 2019 with the objective of helping the team gain promotion to the UPL, will not be renewing his contract with the club after achieving the feat.
“We are in a formal process of hiring a new head coach and beefing up the technical area as well as key player additions,” Joshua Atugonza, the club Chief Executive Officer (CEO) told Kawowo Sports.
Kitara beat Kiboga Young FC in the FUFA Big League play-off final played at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Wednesday last week, thanks to Brian Muluuli Mayanja’s solo goal.
Our source confirmed that discussions are underway on who should be brought in and a number of names were raised at an internal meeting held on Saturday.
The Pride of Bunyoro as they are commonly known alongside UPDF FC and MYDA FC are the new faces in the league and are awaiting to learn what fate holds for them with the 2020/21 league fixtures yet to be released.
Kitara will be hoping that the coach issue is resolved quickly before the kick off of the 2020/21 campaign which is set for November 20.
Twinamatsiko’s assistant Lawrence Bakilanze will stay in temporary charge of the club as they conclude negotiations with the next man who will handle the club.
