Holding an advantage from the first leg of their FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, Tanzania visit Uganda on Saturday, March 14, hoping that they can see out the return leg and progress to the play-off round.

Tanzania were 2-1 victors in Dar-es-Salaam a fortnight ago, and their destiny lies in their own hands in the return leg at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

Tanzania came from a goal down to pick up a win against Uganda after Fauzia Najjemba had given Uganda an early lead before Aisha Masaka who even missed a penalty grabbed a double on the day.

This, however, inspired Tanzania head coach Bakari Shime who believes his charges will make it to the next round despite Uganda being stronger at home.

“Uganda is among the best teams in the region, but we are well prepared. We have been training since our first leg game with an expectation to win away”, Shime told Tanzania’s Daily news.

“All our players are healthy, though it will not be an easy challenge for us as our opponents are quite good and tough especially that we have played them several times, meaning we know each other quite well,” he added.

There are no fresh injuries in the Tanzanian team which is expected to jet into the country on Friday afternoon ahead of the game.

On the other hand, Uganda head coach Ayub Khalifa’s call to have sufficient backing from the 12th man was answered by FUFA.

The federation announced that there will be free entrance for all to the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo. The VIP section, however, will be accessed for only UGX 50,000.

The winner between Uganda and Tanzania is likely to face Cameroon who hold a 4-0 lead in their matchup against Sao Tome, ahead of the second leg to be played in Yaounde, Cameroon.
