Uganda U17 national women football captain Juliet Nalukenge is confident that Uganda will overturn the 2-1 deficit against Tanzania in the return leg of their U17 Women World Cup Qualifier on Saturday, March 14 at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.

In the presence of FUFA President Moses Magogo who paid the team a visit in camp on Monday evening at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, Nalukenge spoke on behalf of her teammates ahead of the Tanzania duel.

“We shall give our best to eliminate Tanzania. We shall be tough, we shall put in much effort and hard work to advance past Tanzania,” Nalukenge said, before expressing gratitude towards Magogo and the federation for the support rendered towards the team while in camp.

“I want to thank you (Magogo) individually in your capacity as the FUFA President plus the entire FUFA for the love and support you have given us all through.”

“We are very grateful and I want to promise you that on Saturday we won’t betray that love. We shall give our whole,” She continued.

The reigning FUFA female football of the year Juliet Nalukenge was kept uncharacteristically at bay in the first leg at the national stadium in Dar-es-salaam as Fauzia Najjemba scored Uganda’s sole goal.

The winner of this double fixture will play either Cameroon or San Tome in the playoff round before sealing qualification to the U17 Women World Cup in India.

Meanwhile, Magogo briefly talked to the girls as he called for extra effort ahead of Tanzania clash.

“I personally watched the first leg; besides the avoidable sloppy balls you gave away, you were not a bad side.”

“You can edge Tanzania as long as you believe in yourselves and are willing to put in that extra effort that day”, Magogo concluded.

The FUFA President then went ahead to promise a USD 200 token to all the players if they manage to turn around the tie and progress.
