Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and Kampala University (KU) played to a barren stalemate in the Pepsi University Football League tie at Nakawa on Wednesday.

The draw was Kampala University’s third straight goalless draw in the competition they have won twice before.

It was a game totally dominated by the visitors from the start, they missed several scoring chances.

Ten minutes into the game, Kampala University’s Michael Kibuule had an attempt with a left sweet shot but it went over the bar.

Kampala University was at it again in the 23rd minute, but this time it was Clinton Asiimwe who had his shot punched over the bar by MUBS custodian Martin Ssenkooto.

Ssenkooto was forced into another wonderful save in the 29th minute, parrying away Kibuule’s curler, it was destined for the top left corner.

Hussein Mwanje headed out Norman Ndyamuhaki’s cross as the Ggaba based University pounded pressure on MUBS.

Three minutes into the second half, Clinton Asiimwe had another shot towards MUBS’ goal but it wasn’t powerful enough for Ssenkooto to save as the visitors continued to dominate the game.

MUBS’ first clear cut chance came in the 53rd minute but Nelson Odama wasn’t lethal enough to give the visitors the needful lead as his weak shot was saved by Kampala University’s custodian Daniel Kigambo.

A draw means that MUBS remained on top of Group D with five points followed by Kampala University with three points from three games.

UCU is third with two points while IUEA is on the bottom of the group with just one point making it a tricky and competitive group.

On Thursday 14th March, UCU hosts IUEA and a winner between the two will increase the chances of qualifying from what is named as ‘the group of death’.
