Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) drew 2-2 with ST. Lawrence University (SLAU) in the 2019 Pepsi University football league when the two outfits met at the UMU playground on Friday.
It was an entertaining encounter with end to end fascinating displays from both sets of players.
Ronald Sempala and John Nakibinge scored for the hosts whereas Bayo Ali and Collins Seruwu were also on the score sheet for the visiting team.
UMU finished as group B leaders on 14 points whereas SLAU finished as runners up with nine points.
“I thank God who has helped us record a point from today’s game and advancing to the quarter finals as group leaders,” UMU coach Noah Mugerwa told www.football-256.com before adding.

“When you look at both teams, they all have good players and therefore today’s draw was a fair tally.”
All the two ties between UMU and SLAU in group B have ended in a stalemate this season, 1-1 was the first leg score.
“It’s not been good for us as we were targeting maximum points in both ties but failed to capitalize and UMU were lucky to have equalized at the death mark of both ties,” ST. Lawrence coach Davis Nono told this website.
“I appreciate their togetherness and criticize the excitement my players get after scoring but we shall sort that ahead of the quarter finals,” Nono added.
There was an abandoned fixture in group B due to bad weather between Islamic university In Uganda (IUIU) and Gulu University, a new date will be announced by the organizers.
