Police FC are in the driving seat of their Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16 clash with Bright Stars after comfortably winning the first leg 4-1 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Sunday.
Three first-half goals and another in second half secured a three goal advantage for the Cops against Bright Stars who only scored once in the game.
Ben Ocen opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game, firing the Cops into the lead with a clean tap in from Muwadda Mawejje’s cross.
Joseph Janjali equalized for Bright Stars in the 12th minute, beating the offside trap before slotting below goalkeeper Derrick Ochan.
Yusuf Ssozi restored the lead for the Cops after 22 minutes with a thunderbolt into the roof of the net from inside the penalty area.
In the 35th minute, Ben Ocen doubled Police’s lead, scoring a screamer from outside the box with a stunning left foot effort.
Uganda U-20 International Derrick Kakooza came off the bench to make it four for Police.
There is still a second leg to play when Bright Stars host Police, but the contest seems not so far away from done and dusted.
Bright Stars can probably go through to the next stage, if they manage at least three goals against Police without conceding, or any other result equal if not greater than the same.
