Uganda players Abroad: Miya prolific, Kigonya heroic

It was yet again another action-packed weekend for a number of Ugandan players at their respective clubs in the diaspora but do you know how they performed? Ronald Lusulire followed them up to find out how they fared.

Forward Farouk Miya continued to showcase his scoring prowess with a brace as his Konyaspor side defeated Kasimpasa 1-4 away from home in the Turkish Super Lig. Miya continued his fine start to life at Konyaspor scoring his fourth goal in his sixth game.

Miya’s performance ensured Konyaspor climb to fourth on the log on 12 points, as they picked up their third victory of the season.   

In Scotland, defender Bevis Mugabi was yet again unused substitute as his Motherwell side defeated St. Mirren 2-0 at home in the Scotish Premier league. 

In Rwanda, Pius Wangi scored on his league debut as his new side Sunrise City coached by former Cranes coach Moses Basena lost 3-2 away to Police FC. Another midfielder Sulaiman Manjanjaro also featured for Sun rise city.

In the Swedish Allsvenskun, defender Ronald Ddungu Mukiibi was an unused substitute while Isak Ssewankambo played the entire 90 minutes and saw yellow in the 71st minute as their Ostersunds FK side shared spoils 1-1 away to BK Hacken. 

In the Swedish Division one, forward Alexis Bakka played the entire game as his Carlstad United side defeated Karlstad 1-2 away from home while forward Fabien Kizito was not in the 18-man squad as his Nykopping side drew 1-1 at home to Team TG FF. 

In the Morocco Botola Pro league, forward Patrick Kaddu was unused substitute as his RS Berkane got their first win of the season in two games with a 0-1 victory away to Hassania Agadir. Earlier in mid-week, Kaddu marked his debut with 90 minutes as they drew 1-1 against FAS Rabat. 

In Egypt, Cranes midfielders Allan Kyambadde playing for El-Gounah faced off against Khalid Aucho’s Misr Lel Maqasa in the Egy[tian Premier League. Kyambadde and El-Gounah emerged 1-0 victors, as both players competed for 90 minutes for their respective sides.

Taddeo Lwanga played for 90 minutes as his Tanta SC side drew 1-1 away to Haras El Hodood. Meanwhile Abdul Lumala was not in the match day squad as Pyramids FC coached by former cranes coach Sebastien Desabre, drew 2-2 away at El Gaish. 

Emmanuel Okwi came on in the 65th minute for Razaq Cisse as his Al Ittihad side defeated El Masry 0-1 away from home. 

In Albania, Godfrey Walusimbi was absent as his Vllaznia side defeated Kukesi 1-2 away from home, while midfielder Moses Opondo came on in the 69th minute for Sander Svendsen as his Odense defeated Horsens 3-0 at home despite going down to 10 men, in the Danish Super league. 

In the Czech Republic second tier, Isaac Muleme was an unused substitute as his Viktoria Zizkov side defeated Vysehrad 1-0 at home. In the Finnish Veikausligga, Robert Kakeeto played the entire game as his HIFK side defeated VPS 2-3 away from home.

In DRC, Joseph Ochaya played 90 minutes for TP Mazembe as they picked up a slender 1-0 win over AS Lubumbashi, while Savio Kabugo didn’t make AS Vita’s match day squad as they drew 1-1 at home against AS Rangers.

In Zambia, custodian Mathias Kigonya played 90 minutes and was named man of the match as his Forest Rangers side defeated Kabwe Warriors 2-0. Another goalkeeper Brian Bwete played the whole game as his Mufulira Wanderers lost 3-0 at Lusaka Dynamos.

Forward Umaru Kasumba had an emotional afternoon, scoring his first league goal for ZESCO United as they defeated Napsa Stars 3-2 at home, almost an hour after learning of his elder sister’s death. Paul Musamali wasn’t in the 18-man squad as his Buildcon FC side drew 0-0 at home to Zanaco. 

In Tanzania, Juma Balinya started on the bench for Yanga Africans as they defeated Coastal Union 1-0 at home while Nicholas Wadada featured for 90 minutes as his Azam FC side defeated Namungo 2-1.

In Kenya, Shafiq Batambuze missed the game as Gor Mahia defeated Zoo FC 1-0 due to injury, while William Wadri and Fred Nkata played the entire 90 minutes for Bandari FC as they lost 2-1 at Sofapaka. Goalkeeper Ismail Watenga and Peter Lwasa also featured for Sofapaka.

Rogers Aloro and Hashim Ssempala also featured as their Tusker FC side defeated Kakamega home Boys 1-3.

In South Africa, Moses Waiswa who is still recovering from injury could only join in celebration as his side SuperSport United defeated Highland Park 1-0 to lift the MTN 8 cup.
