Just a day into the commencement of the 2021/22 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season and there already seems to be good news for the league on the front of sponsorship by yet another partner.

Reliable sources confirmed to Football256 that Uganda’s topflight league is set to sign a juicy sponsorship deal with Pilsner Lager, a brand whose longevity in the region has seen them earn massive respect and trust.

Pilsner, which is an alcohol brewing brand of Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) boasts of products that have stood the test of time across East Africa but also fun giving to the masses that subscribe.

It is understood that the partnership, whose monetary value is approximately UGX one billion will be announced on Monday, October 18, 2021.

It is important to note that Pilsner currently have a matchday along with a monthly award deal with the Uganda Premier League, a UGX. 450 million deal which was signed back in the year 2018.

They have also previously injected millions in the Pilsner Super Eight competition, a tournament that was played by the top six teams from the previous UPL season and the top two from the FUFA Big League.

The deal comes timely as the major stakeholders in the league, clubs most especially continue to navigate the adverse effects brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. The times are indeed undesirable.

The hope is that the sponsorships coming on board will help present better news for the UPL but most importantly the topflight clubs who have continuously suffered at the expense of money-related issues.
