Uganda Super Cup: Proline a big test for KCCA

By Football256 Team

The 2019 edition of Uganda Super Cup will see the league holders KCCA take on newly promoted side Proline FC.

The two sides will lock horns on Wednesday, August 28th 2019 at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo, the venue used by both sides to host their league games.

A match contested by the winners of the Uganda Premier League and the Stanbic Uganda Cup will also act as a curtain-raiser for the new league season.

The Mike Mutebi coached side were the 2018/2019 Uganda Premier League champions while Proline emerged as victors of the 2018/2019 Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Wednesday’s meeting will be the first time both sides meet in this competition with KCCA aiming at defending the title, they won last year after beating Vipers at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku to claim their fifth title.

Proline are looking for their maiden victory under the stewardship of the new head coach Matia Lule.

They have settled in quickly by getting the better of Masters security FC in the second round of the 2019/2020 Total CAF Confederations Cup preliminary qualifiers to book a place to the playoff qualifying round where they will play As Kigali from Rwanda.

The game is between two sides that must deal with fatigue and jetlag at the same time, Proline arrived in the Country on Monday morning from Lilwonge having played against Masters Security on Saturday.

Meanwhile, KCCA who played two games in three days against African Stars and Vipers SC in CAF Champions League and Pilsner Super 8 respectively also have limited time of preparing for the bout.

With a 2-0 defeat to their rivals Vipers on Sunday in the Super 8 final and a hard-fought win against Namibia’s African Stars FC, the Yellow Boys will have to overstretch themselves once again to get past a hungry Proline.

As they say, football is full of total uncertainties and you never know what your opponent has in stock for you. Let Wednesday be the judgement day for both teams.
