Ceazor Manzoki is not called ‘The Emperor’ for no reason, his presence at any club will always cause excitement amongst his fans.
Such was the case when Manzoki was pictured in the stands during Simba’s 1-0 win against Coastal Union in the Azam Federation cup on Saturday 28th January.
His appearance, for the first time in Dar-es-Salaam after rife speculation had linked him to Simba, raised the hopes of many Simba fans who thought the Congolese forward had finally put pen to paper.
However, Football256 understands that Manzoki was only in Dar-es-Salaam to attend the Simba SC annual general meeting in a bid to calm the Msimbazi faithful who thought the reigning Uganda premier league player of the year had changed his mind to join Simba.
So why the delay
Football256 reliably understands that Simba’s bid to sign the forward in the January window fell through after the forward took a while to weigh his current club offer with that of Simba.
The delay meant Simba couldn’t beat the Tanzanian transfer window deadline which closed on 15th January leaving Manzoki with no option but to renew his stay in China with Dalian Pro FC until the end of the season.
However, this author understands that Manzoki has assured the Simba hierarchy that he will join before the new campaign gets underway in August making his trip to Dar-es-Salaam one to show allegiance to the Msimbazi faithful.
“The officials did everything possible for me to come to Simba but ‘bad people’ did not want it to happen.”
“But I know Simba is a big club in Africa and hopefully soon we shall link up,” Manzoki told the congregation at the Simba annual general meeting.
It remains to be seen how Manzoki will walk away from one year contract extension he signed earlier this year at Dalian Pro FC when the next window opens
Simba are preparing for the CAF champions league campaign where they’re pooled in group C alongside Raja Casablanca, Horoya and Vipers SC.
