By Football256 Team

Rashid Agau first half strike was all that Maroons FC needed to down newbies Kyetume FC, 1-0 in their highly contested Star Times Uganda Premier League game at the Luzira Prison grounds.

It’s the visitors that threatened first inside the first five minutes of the match but couldn’t beat Maroons FC debutant custodian Hannington Ssebwalunyo.

The all important moment came in the 12th minute when Agau slotted in past hapless custodian Joel Mutakubwa to send the average home crowd into celebrations.

There were no further changes to the score with Maroons holding on to their advantage as the opening half drew to a close.

Six minutes into the second half, the slaughters made their first change with Maroons old boy Seif Batte taking the place of the tired veteran midfielder Patrick Ochan.

Two minutes later, the hosts also made changes introducing Bronson Nsubuga for William Kiibi and shortly Abraham Tusubira for goal scorer Rashid Agau.

With the clock running down, Kyetume head coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe in a desparate attempt to salvage atleast a point introduced Denis Lubowa for match day one hero Cephas Kambugu.

With a quarter to normal, Maroons made their final change with Ronald Orombi coming on for Pius Obuya and so did Kyetume with Ibrahim Kazindula taking the place of Robert Ssentongo.

Kyetume defender Jonathan Mugabi was the first and only player to enter in the referees’ book with a few minutes to normal time.
