Blacks Power FC held their nerves to pick a valuable point in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League barren stalemate against Arua Hill SC at the Aki Bua Stadium on Friday.
The newbies fended off opposition from The Leopards, ending their perfect start to the 2022/23 UPL season.
It wasn’t pulsating in Lira as it was a show lacking in fluidity and goalscoring opportunities, especially in the first half.
Nonetheless, the hosts had the first sight of goal with Mike Siwu testing goalkeeper Richard Anyama from a freekick, which the latter superbly saved.
At the 23rd minute mark, Siwu yet again drew another decent save from Anyama in another attempt from the freekick.
The guests’ first real sniff at goal came after the restart, with Rashid Kawawa drawing a good save from goalkeeper Tonny Kyamera in the 49th minute.
Kawawa and Samuel Ssekamatte nearly combined for an opener in the 65th minute but Kyamera was yet again equal to the challenge.
Blacks Power attempted to grab all points at the death but Daniel Otim missed the target by a whisker to see out the 90.
The result takes Arua Hill to fifth with seven points in three matches, with a bout against UPDF FC next on November 04.
Meanwhile, Blacks Power have now collected two points in five games and have assumed the 13th position on the 15-team log. They visit KCCA FC on November 05 in their next encounter.
