Seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Express FC pushed their winless streak to seven games, after being held to a barren stalemate by Blacks Power FC at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Wednesday.

Toothless, the Red Eagles were yet again unconvincing and were fully undeserving of anything more than a point against a resilient Blacks Power.

In the past seven games, ‘Mukwano Gwabangi’ has lost four times and drawn thrice, including stalemates in each of the past three.

On the evening, Express made a bright but short-lived start, with quick surges for an early opener, and nearly grabbed one in the 10th minute, but Hassan Mubiru looped slightly over the bar with goalkeeper Emmanuel Odongo beaten.

From then on, chances were at a premium at either end, with both sides struggling to impose themselves on the game in attack.

Express defender Arthur Kiggundu had some bit of threat on the opposite end in the 34th minute, but his headed effort lacked enough power to trouble Odongo in goal.

The story wasn’t different in the second half till substitute Ivan Mayanja in the 70th minute, troubled Odongo with a long-range shot which the latter denied rather, excellently.

Neither the hosts nor the guests could break the deadlock as both sides settled for a point to wrap up the first round.

The hosts have rounded the first half of the season ninth with 17 points, whereas Blacks Power are 12th on the 15-team log with 11 points.
