After an unprecedented delay to the release of the 2022/23 Uganda Premier League fixture, the long wait is set to come to an end before the closure of the current week.

The draft was, according to the action plan, supposed to be released on August 22, but wasn’t due to a pending Kyetume FC licensing case.

“You are aware that Kyetume has an issue and were given a Monday (August 23) deadline (hence the delay),” League Manager Paul Kabaikaramu told The-SportsNation.

“Originally, we planned to have the fixture ready by a month before then Kickoff on September 10 which was later postponed to 30th. This is not going to affect us in any way, we can’t push any further.”

“And to add, by close of this week, we could have the fixture out if all goes to plan,” Kabaikaramu revealed.

He went on further to defend the Secretariat’s stance on the delays, noting that all licensing requirements have to be fulfilled by all teams before the fixture is put out.

“That process has to go to the end because otherwise, I am drawing a fixture of how many teams?” he rhetorically asked.

“After we get that communication which we expect by today or tomorrow, then also confirmation of Club venues, then we will be good to go.”

“For us (UPL Secretariat), we are even ready as of now. We are just waiting for the Kyetume case to be resolved to know what we put in the fixture.”

In a related development, the Pilsner Super Eight, for a second successive season, will not happen for unmentioned reasons.
