UPL: KCCA want to sign out on a high

By Football256 Team

KCCA head into the final game of the 2018/2019 StarTimes Uganda Premier League with relaxed sleeves. Well at least that’s what the league table says having already secured their 13th Championship.

They take on 12th placed Maroons on Saturday at the StarTimes Stadium in a game the champions elect shall be officially crowned in what is expected to be an occasion of grandeur.

Much as most of the hard work has been concluded, you would not bet on KCCA manager, Mike Mutebi resting on his laurels as he’s proved it time and again with his exceedingly high demands from his players.

“You have to go play that match like any other matches, seriously,” Mutebi noted at the prematch press conference on Friday Morning.

“But because of that laid back situation of Ugandan teams, you go laid back. You saw the way we played against Ndejje – ‘it’s all over’. That minimalist thinking is what has always hurt us,” he added.

These should be subtle signs of what Maroons should brace themselves for going into Saturday’s game.

“So full throttle. Go there, that’s one of the club’s we are competing with and we must get points.”

“Yes we have already won the league but we must win it (against Maroons) decently. Last match we must win it and winning it well playing good football.” Added Mutebi with an assertive tone.

Basing on those excerpts from Mutebi, a repeat of the first round 1-0 triumph over Maroons will not be acceptable as KCCA had to toil had to string a few passes together that evening and the scoreline didn’t particularly tell the story.

Sadam Juma also re-echoed his manager’s words when quizzed about the game tomorrow and had this to say

“They are a very good side as the manager stated. They are a project team because it has gone through his (Mutebi’s) goals and ambitions of grooming players. It’s a very good team who love to play the ball as we (KCCA) always want to.” Said Juma.

Very respectful words from the KCCA midfielder but there is no guarantee that KCCA will be according that much respect to Maroons.

They will definitely want to sign out on this campaign in a high and serve their fans to some sumptuous football as they bid farewell to the 2018-19 campaign.
