KCCA FC forward Rogers Mato netted the all-important goal in the fifth minute as his side edged its rivals Vipers SC 1-0 in the Uganda Premier League at Lugogo on Saturday.
The forward expects the Kasasiro Boys to continue to put up such performances: “As a team, we prepared enough for this game and we wanted to win it as much as our opponents.
Mato added: “It is a team’s victory because everyone put up a very big performance individually.”
“Beating Vipers is huge and this gives us a lot more confidence and I expect us to continue performing well.”
The 13-time UPL champions bounced back from a humiliating 3-1 defeat away to Arua Hill SC last week in style.
They are positioned fourth on the 15-team UPL log with six points and will be on the road for their next fixture against Maroons FC on Friday.
Besides the victory over the Vipers, Mato also discussed individual ambitions noting that he would wish one day to play professional football overseas.
“For now I am focused on KCCA and I am playing for the badge want us to win games and trophies.”
“But to a greater extent, I am using this as a stepping stone to playing professional football.”
“I will continue putting in the effort and I am optimistic that one day I will realize my dream,” Mato noted.
He’s a hard-working player and one who is trusted by Byekwaso and he’s also in the setup of the Uganda Cranes team.
