Express FC’s new signing Allan Kayiwa has had a brilliant start at Wankulukuku and head coach James Odoch has showered him with praises.
Kayiwa scored the only goal of the game with a well-taken free kick in the 48th minute as the Red Eagles edged URA FC 1-0 at home in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Saturday.
“He (Kayiwa) is a key player and given his experience, he is adding value to the team,” Odoch said during his post-match interview with the club media.
“Scoring in every game so far shows how important he is to us and I am optimistic that by the end of the season he will be amongst the leading goal scorers in the league.”
Before his goal against the Tax Collectors, the former Vipers SC player had scored in his side’s one-all draw with UPDF FC in Bombo a week ago.
Odoch was also left impressed with the team’s general performance: “Everyone else also did well and winning the first home game that gives us confidence going forward.”
“We had plenty of chance which we didn’t convert but it’s better that we didn’t concede and we shall improve going into the next game,” he stated.
Express has not lost to URA in the last five league games dating back to February 2020 when the latter edged the former 2-1 at Wankulukuku.
The seven-time UPL champions have won thrice while the other two games ended in stalemates.
Odoch’s charges are placed fourth on the 15-team log with four points and up next in an away game against rivals SC Villa on Friday, October 14.
The game will be played at Wankulukuku given that both teams share the same grounds this season.
