Onduparaka FC held record holders SC Villa in a goalless stalemate on matchday two of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Friday, at the Bombo Barracks Grounds.

The encounter was played on a neutral ground as hosts Onduparaka started the five-game ban playing behind closed doors, thanks to a punishment inflicted due to violence last season.

Onduparaka had a chance to take the lead through Rashid Okocha but his powerful shot was palmed away by SC Villa custodian Martin Elungat.

The hosts had another clear chance through Gaddafi Gadinho but his effort went narrowly wide.

The game was so physical witnessing rough tackles and knocks in the middle of the park.

Villa’s first chance came through Fred Kafumbe, but his low effort was collected by goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga.

Davis Ssekaja’s corner kick was met by Sheif Batte but the effort was blocked by towering defender Denis Ojara.

The second stanza started on a slow note as Onduparaka connected a number of passes, as they pushed the visitors on the receiving end.

Gadinho had spell of brilliance through a well curled freekick, but Elungat was equal to the challenge with a well timed save.

Ivan Bogere released Batte on the right flank but his first touch was so heavy, taking the ball out of his reach.

The result takes the Jogoos to second position with four points from two games while Onduparaka sit 11th pointless.

In the next games, Onduparaka will visit Gaddafi on Wednesday, while Villa host rivals Express on Friday October 14.
