UPL: Onduparaka tantalize Express at Wankulukuku

By Football256 Team

Six-time Uganda Premier league Champions Express FC faltering start to the season continued as they fell to Onduparaka FC at the Betway Muteesa II stadium.

The Red Eagles had another lackluster performance in front of their fans who must be feeling utterly disgusted with what they saw against Onduparaka.

Express could have opened the scoring on the 20th minute, but Frank Kalanda failed to connect well with Frank Ssenyondo’s low cross, with the striker just missing the target.

A clumsy bit of defending five minutes later in the 26th minute, put Gibson Adinho through on goal. The forward capitalised on the error to slot home the opening goal of the game.

It was a game of few chances at either ends, but Onduparaka edged their hosts by taking the chances that came their way.

In the 57th minute, Ceaser Okhuti doubled the visitors’ lead with a fantastic header, the veteran forward nodded Atendele Geriga’s swinging cross in the left upper corner of the goal beyond Express custodian Joshua Adea’s reach.

George Ssemwogerere’s men who had not conceded more than once in a game in only one game since he took charge of the club decided to have an off day defensively, and Okhuti was almost gifted a third only for the veteran striker failing to hit the target.

Express could have pulled one back in the 82nd minute, but Ssenyondo’s first touch let him down as Onduparaka’s keeper Yusuf Wasswa collected.

The loss means Express have picked up just a single point in their three games this season, after falling to BUL on the opening day before drawing against Bright stars last week.

The Red Eagles are also winless in their last four league games, drawing twice and losing as much. The Red Eagles visit Mbarara City on Tuesday, September 10th.

While Onduparaka host Vipers on Wednesday 11th, September, in their first home game back at the Green light stadium, Arua.
