URA FC has defeated Onduparaka FC 3-1 in Ndejje to extend their lead at the summit of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table.
The Tax Collectors started the day on 47 points, a point above champions Vipers SC – who visit KCCA FC on Sunday.
URA started with a direct approach in a bid to collect maximum points. They built confidence from the last time they were in UPL action as they managed to register their first-ever league win over Mbarara City in a 2-0 win at home.
It took them 35 minutes to find the breakthrough when Steven Mukwala set up captain Shafik Kagimu to slot at the far post for his fourth goal of the season.
Steven Mukwala scored in the 40th minute to double URA’s lead, but Mahad Ajobe pulled one back to reduce the deficit nine minutes into the second half.
Shafik Kagimu sealed the victory in the 61st minute of the game to grant the tax collectors a well-deserved victory against the Caterpillars.
URA now has 50 points, four points clear off Vipers although the Venoms have played a game less.
URA face a tough trip to Vipers SC’s St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday in a game that could provide huge bearing to the title.
