Having failed to win any of their opening two StarTimes Uganda Premier League matches this season, champions Vipers SC will be hoping they can pick maximum points as they play host to Maroons FC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday.

The Kitende outfit, who are as well yet to score a League goal, will have to fend off opposition from the Prison Warders, who have had a relatively good start to the campaign and sit fourth on the log with eight points.

And, head coach Roberto Oliveira alias Robertinho is optimistic his team can respond and get back to their known standards.

“I trust my players, I believe in the group and the objective tomorrow is to play well and win,” he was quoted by the Club website.

“We have had specific theoretical and tactical training and it was positive, we received good feedback,” added the Brazilian.

“We have to win this game for our future, as this club is big and needs to win every game. I believe in my capacity and the personality here.”

The two will be meeting for the 15th time, and for the previous 14, the Venoms are yet to lose any.

They have 10 victories and four draws, and, midfielder Siraje Ssentamu is confident the trend will continue.

“Maroons is a good team but tomorrow, we are looking straight and set to win our first game this season.”

“We haven’t been scoring goals, but the coaches have done everything to rectify these niggles and we are ready for tomorrow. We have to pick the three points,” reiterated the colossus midfielder.

Ssentamu is back in contention having been out for close to three weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered in their CAF Champions League penalty shootout win over TP Mazembe.

In their previous home encounter in the 2019/20 season, Vipers were 5-0 winners over the Warders, with goals from Allan Kayiwa, Brian Nkuubi, Milton Karisa, and Abraham Ndugwa.
