Vipers SC comfortably beat record champions SC Villa 2-0 to assume the second place of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The Venoms struck through Yunus Sentamu and Karim Watambala at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday.
The Kitende side exerted themselves on the game right from the first minute to the end as they missed a couple of more chances to stretch their lead.
Milton Karisa was twice denied by the guests’ goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige, as Sentamu also missed the target by a few inches in the 35th minute.
The latter had however found the opener in the 20th minute, latching on to a loose ball after a defensive mix-up.
The visitors came back in the second stanza to the better team for a short spell but were hard done by a red card to Davis Sekajja.
Nonetheless, Charles Baale and Travis Mutyaba tested Vipers’ goalkeeper Alfred Macumu Mudekereza but the latter was equal to the challenge on both occasions.
The hosts then netted the second through Watambala’s screamer from outside the box with a minute to go.
Following the result, Villa occupy seventh with 14 points and will visit Maroons FC in their next match on December 4.
Meanwhile, Vipers who have 20 points, will on the same day be guests to Gadaffi FC .
